Son of Jaguar
Hailing from the Coffs Coast of NSW and originally starting out life as High Horse, they’ve been playing around the North Coast since the summer of 2011/12. The band had to change it’s name due to the proliferation of other High Horses all around the world. So they left the stables and headed into the jungle as Son of Jaguar. The first gig as Son of Jaguar was on the 18th March 2016. Since then they’ve had support shows with The Living End, The Bennies, The Hard Aches, The Celibate Rifles and SpyvSpy. Their debut eight track album, King Hit is due for release in late 2017. Born out of a desire for nothing more than drinking a few cold beers and playing some sweat drenched rock n roll, the band performs a high energy show of original material with a few select covers thrown in for fun. Influences include: Radio Birdman, Beasts of Bourbon, ACDC, The Stooges, The Oblivians, Reigning Sound, The Supersuckers, The Hellacopters and The Upper Crust, just to name a few. The band consists of vocalist Gary Maher, Jason Thorncraft and Rod Deighton on guitars, bassist Joe Hansen and Karl Johnson on drums. All members have been playing in different bands and in some bands together for many years on the North Coast of NSW and in Brisbane and Sydney. Bassist Joe is best known as a member of legendary Australian rock band Grinspoon. The band members share a wealth of musical experience and the line up is classic, with a twin guitar attack that is inspired by 60’s and 70’s garage rock and punk.
