8 Ball Aitken performs uniquely Far North Queenslandic alt. country, blues & roots anthems — contemporary honk, stomp, Aussie swamp tunes played on a big National guitar. The past year has seen 8 Ball Aitken receiving national radio airplay on Triple J and other stations. He’s recently toured Japan for the third time, and has just returned from the USA, where he played in Los Angeles, New York City, and Nashville. 8 Ball has gigged around Australia, playing a wide range of festivals, clubs, pubs and special events. Highlights include the East Coast Blues & Roots Festival in Byron Bay, the Australian National Blues Festival in Goulburn, the Tamworth Country Music Festival, Woodford Folk Festival, the Adelaide Fringe Festival, Melbourne Fringe Festival, the Valley Fiesta, the Mackay Festival of the Arts, Victoria’s Earthbeat Festival, the Thuringowa River Festival, the Brisbane Blues Festival, the Sunshine Coast Blues Festival, and the Gympie Muster.

8 Ball has just recorded his third album, ‘REBEL WITH A CAUSE’, with roots music producer Garth Porter (ex-Sherbet). It will be released in early 2008. His other two albums, ‘BEHIND THE 8 BALL’ and ‘ODD BALL IN’, receive regular airplay around Australia.

8 Ball Aitken has played support shows for musicians including American country-rock band Dr. Hook, Xavier Rudd, Ross Wilson, Diesel, Dirty Lucy, The Bondi Cigars, Eugene ‘Hideaway’ Bridges, the Zydecats (featuring Lucky Oceans), Enrico Crivellaro, Finis Tasby, Alice Stuart, the Detonators, Phil Emmanuel, Lisa Hunt, Doug Ford (ex-Master’s Apprentices), & Johno’s Blues Band.
