It has been a big year for Nicky Bomba and the alliance of musical mad men, who form BUSTAMENTO. Celebrating the New Year at Woodford Folk Festival with raging crowds, the recent Melbourne Ska Orchestra album release (which all Bustamento members are involved in) and a main stage performance at Byron Bay Bluesfest. The band is now set to sail the high seas again.

BUSTAMENTO are a party filled island adventure. A tropical shaking six piece that pays homage to the upbeat rhythms of the Caribbean, covering the Calypso, Mento, Early Reggae and Ska styles. Known for crowd interaction and having a dance floor jumping at all times.

The ARIA Nominated album, ‘Intrepid Adventures to the Lost Riddim Islands’, was recorded using old school techniques by award winning engineer Robin Mai and produced by Nicky Bomba. The songs were played live to capture the chemistry of the band, which has existed in many different forms for over 15 years. In what was a totally fun and inspiring experience, BUSTAMENTO laid down 23 songs in one weekend and realised they had something special.

One of Australia’s busiest and most highly respected musicians, Nicky Bomba has built a solid reputation in the music industry via many projects including directing and conducting bands, Bomba, Butsamento and the massive Melbourne Ska Orchestra, drumming for the John Butler Trio, being the Artistic Producer for the Multicultural Arts Victoria ‘Visible’ projects and sitting on the Australia Council Music Board. He has a discography of over a dozen albums and has been a composer/performer on many more.
