BULLHORN are a dynamic nu-wave brass band with a line up including 7 hard hitting horn players, 1 bossing drummer and 1 monster MC. Their sound is born from a high-octane mix of funk, soul, hip hop, jazz, reggae and dance music. The combination of their high energy shows, virtuosic musicians and profound musical arrangements never fails to inspire and get the audiences moving on the dancefloor.
BULLHORN was formed in mid 2011 and in their relatively short life they have established themselves as a tight, well organised group, with catchy grooves and an upbeat sound. They’ve performed at many venues and festivals throughout Australia including Woodford Folk Fest, Noosa Jazz Fest, Island Vibe Fest, Caxton Street Fest, The Village Fest and many others.
BULLHORN released their debut self titled album in feb 2012, only 6 months after the band formed. The album covers hip hop, soul, funk, reggae and dance music and features original compositions and reimagining’s of tracks by Bonobo, Quantic Soul Orchestra, Easy Star All Stars and Hypnotic Brass Ensemble. It received a great reception all over Australia. It was in the 4ZZZ top 20 Sat Feb 25 2012, 3RRR Soundscape for week beginning April 23rd, 2012, Qld Music Awards Featured Entry April 10, 2012, PBS radio tip sheet April 2012, and 2SER SERving up April 2012.
Now in 2013 BULLHORN have just released and toured their new single, Resonate Right, throughout May. The new single includes two tracks; Resonate Right, BULLHORN’s own original, featuring Roman MC and Laneous, as well as a re-imagining of Groove Armada’s classic tune, At the River. The single gives a tantalising taste of the upcoming album. The new album and film clip will be release Oct 2013. It will be produced by Brisbane rock stalwart Skritch who has performed with acts such as Beasts of Bourbon, Tex Perkins’ Dark Horses,  Mary Trembles, Gota Cola, and Broken Head as well as producing some of the hottest new sounds such as Inland Sea, HITS and Los Huevos. This new album offers very contrasting tunes which capture BULLHORN’s eclectic but distinctive sound.
Their presence is formidable; armed with trumpets, trombones, saxophones, drums, the mighty sousaphone bringing up the rear and the massive presence of Roman MC. As BULLHORN starts to play audiences will experience huge rumbling sounds around them as they descend into a world of rich sonic textures created live, acoustic and real.
